The war between records and CDs is an old one. Most of us barely even use CDs anymore, not when there are so many other ways to get our music. Methods like digital download, streaming, mp3s and even getting your music on the television through places like http://www.cannonsatellite.com/ are all ways we get our music and most of us prefer them. However, for those of us undeterred by the hustle and bustle of the retail ritual, the old war lives on and one has to ask – are records really better than CDs?

The short answer is yes. Sure CDs might be smaller and more convenient but nothing quite compares to a fine crafted vinyl, but that isn’t the only reason. The process for writing or burning music onto CDs is a streamlined process that lacks both the robust ingenuity and superb craftsmanship of a produced vinyl. Elements of the music and sound, the clarity, are chopped off and chucked in the data storage process that goes into producing a CD. Vinyl uses a wider range of frequency. Even if it doesn’t make sense to you on paper, your ears know the difference.

You might disagree. You might believe that CDs are, in fact, better than vinyl records and you are welcome to that opinion but remember – CDs are facing the same problems with new music formats that records one faced. One day you may find your precious CDs as obsolete as the records we all adore.

For anyone who remembers record players and vinyl records, keeping the vinyl in good condition is a must. Simply by keeping the record in the sleeve will prevent scratches and any other dirt particles or debris from getting into the grooves. After playing wipe with a soft cloth and return to the sleeve once again. Make sure the needle is in good condition before playing your record. Avoid scratches when handling the record(s) if you have long nails. Jewelry can be another obstacle so just remove any pieces while handling your record to safeguad against scratches.Check out this link here. Store your albums in an upright position when not playing. If you place the album flat weight may cause the record to warp or bend out of shape. There are different storage containers for keeping your favorite records in like new condition. Do not write on the album or its cover. This may cause marks that will affect the sound of your album. Keep the album and covers dry and free of any chemicals that may be sprayed in your home, such as carpet cleaning or monthly pest control solutions, or perfumes. Protecting your vinyl means they will give you many years of enjoyment

When the Beatles were recording their first album, it is safe to say that they did not imagine the world that we live in today. Vinyl is considered somewhat of a novelty for the mainstream public, especially in a world where music is played constantly and is considered something to fill empty space while multitasking, not something to be thoroughly enjoyed.

Today, music is heavily compressed. While technology has progressed greatly since the golden age of vinyl, we have sacrificed music quality for convenience. Very low and high tones are easily lost or are purposefully pared down in order to get a particular song to fit onto the average iPod or in Windows Media Player. This is not how the songs were written, how the artist preformed it, or how the song was meant to be heard. Much of the musical integrity that the artist put into the song is lost, which makes vinyl a much better choice for those who wish to really enjoy the music they love.

Many bands and artists today that are conscious of the quality of their music are going back to selling vinyl, which is slowly but surely bringing this fantastic medium back into the mainstream.Related Article : Invisible Music vs. The Physical Artefact

Vinyl records are very high maintenance and require a lot of care to keep them clean. It is very important to use a carbon fiber brush to remove dust and any small pieces of lint before you even listen to the record. A carbon fiber brush will also reduce the chances of your record collecting any additional lint or dust as it takes the static electricity right out. After listening to your vinyl record a few times you may notice that is has gotten dirty. It is a good idea to clean your records at least once a year to remove grease, dirt, and any other foreign particle that may collect on the record. The cheapest way to clean them is to make a solution of distilled water and isopropyl alcohol and apply it with a paper towel using back and forth motions. If price is not a worry than there are many machines available that are made specifically for cleaning records that will suck the dust off the record so you will never have to worry about scratches from cleaning again. These machines are also much faster and a sure way to avoid any scratches you incur from hand cleaning methods.

Turntables are making a great comeback for music enthusiasts. Many current, popular musical groups are now releasing their albums on vinyl. Vinyl records produces a very warm, different type of tone than CDs or tapes. Whether you are starting a vinyl collection or have a large historical collection, choosing the right turntable will insure that you can thoroughly enjoy your music. There are a few things to consider when buying your turntable.

There are two different ways that a turntable moves; belt drive or direct drive. Belt drive works off a motor that is separate, the belt acts as shock absorber. Vibrations and noises from the motor are greatly reduced. The direct drive sits on top of the motor, this allows for reliable and consistent speed of the turntable. DJs tend to use the direct drive more, they can manipulate the record by spinning it backwards or forward.

Turntables can also manual or automatic. Manual turntables requires the user to place the arm on the correct part of the record grove and remove the arm when finished. Automatic turntables will automatically place the arm in the groove with a press of a button and remove the arm by itself when the record is finished.
